Amisha, Prachi, and Hardik Secure Silver at Junior World Boxing Championships; 9 Indian Boxers Advance to Compete For Gold

Indian boxers Hardik Panwar, Amisha Keretta, and Prachi Tokas concluded their performances at the IBA Junior World Boxing Championships in Yerevan, Armenia, by securing silver medals.

Hardik, the Asian junior champion in the 80kg category, experienced a close 2-3 defeat against Russia’s Ashurov Bairamkhan in a highly competitive match on Sunday. Both boxers displayed aggression throughout the bout, striving to score points and keeping the audience engaged. However, the Russian boxer managed to secure the victory. Similarly, Amisha (54kg) and Prachi (+80kg) also faced 0-5 losses in their respective final matches.

Amisha faced defeat against Ayazhan Sydyk from Kazakhstan, while Prachi put up a strong fight but ultimately fell short against Sobirakhon Shakhobiddinova from Uzbekistan, who is a two-time Asian junior champion. In the ongoing tournament, India has already secured a total of 17 medals, including five bronze.

On the final day of the competition, Monday, nine Indian boxers, namely Payal (48kg), Nisha (52kg), Vini (57kg), Shrushti (63kg), Akansha (70kg), Megha (80kg), Jatin (54kg), Sahil (75kg), and Hemant (80+kg), will compete for gold medals. Earlier, Neha (46kg), Nidhi (66kg), Pari (50kg), Kritika (75kg), and Sikandar (48kg) had secured bronze medals after concluding their campaigns in the semifinals.
