As defined by the AFC, grassroots football encompasses “all football that is non-professional and non-elite”. It encompasses children’s football, school or youth football, amateur football, football for disabled players, and even football for veterans.

With the imminent launch of the AIFF’s flagship grassroots project, the Blue Cubs Programme, the main focus is to provide a comprehensive and impactful platform for young footballers at the grassroots level. The Programme aims to revolutionize the development of grassroots football by emphasizing essential aspects like skill enhancement, talent identification, coach education, and establishing a structured pathway for the advancement of both regular and elite players at various stages of their development.
