“The committee has done exceptional work in terms of bringing more value to the league and the clubs in India. There is an encouraging environment for more clubs to be part of the Hero I-League. The Hero 2nd Division League was very competitive last season. I’m sure the two promoted clubs Delhi FC and Shillong Lajong will add a lot of value to the league.”

He further stated,

“We will have a better and improved structure for the IWL this season, more games in youth competitions and hope to welcome more new teams in the Hero I-League. Five bids for a direct entry to the Hero I-League 2023-24 season just goes to show the interest in our league structure.”

Cities like Delhi, Gurugram, and Bengaluru submitted Tier 1 bids, while Varanasi presented a Tier 2 bid, and Sri Bhaini Sahib village put forward a Tier 3 bid. Financial experts will carefully assess and review these bids to determine which team(s) will participate in the Hero I-League 2023-24 season.

The League Committee has decided that the upcoming Hero IWL 2023-24 season will feature eight teams. These will include the top four teams from both groups of the Hero IWL 2022-23 season.
