IPL gives an excessive spotlight to bowlers for it is an opportunity for them to show their talents. Teams like Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians have a great bowling lineup and have been performing consistently.
To honour the talented bowlers and increase their motivation, an award called ‘the Purple Cap’ was introduced. The purple cap is presented to that bowler who takes the maximum number of wickets in the season.

5Umesh Yadav (Royal Challengers Bangalore)
A right-arm fast-medium bowler, Umesh Yadav is an Indian cricketer. In IPL 2018, he proved to be the best bowler of his team Royal Challengers Bangalore. Also, he was marked as one of the top bowlers from India in Test Cricket last year.

Being aware of the fact that his team never won the IPL, Umesh is expected to be at his best form during the matches this season. Probably, that is why he is an expected pick for the winner of the purple cap as the season ends.
4Rashid Khan(Sunrisers Hyderabad)
Rashid Khan Arman is an Afghan cricketer, who took the best bowling figures in 2017 ODI match. In 2018, he became the youngest player to top the ICC Players Rankings for bowlers in ODIs.
Rashid played IPL for the first time in February 2017 when he was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for 4 crores. Before this, no Afghani player was ever selected for the IPL.
In his first match in IPL 2017 for Hyderabad, he added two wickets under his name and Sunrisers won the match by 35 runs. He completed the season as the sixth highest wicket taker with 17 wickets from 14 matches.
In IPL 2018, Khan played one of the matches that was his 100th Twenty 20 match. Taking two wickets and helping a runout, he became the man of the match. By the end of the previous season, Khan took 21 wickets in 17 matches which is an impressive record.
Being the current number one ranked bowler in T20 cricket and also the leading wicket-taker, he is expected to win the purple cap with his impressive bowling this IPL season.

3Trent Boult (Delhi Capitals)
Trent Boult is a fast bowler from New Zealand who set records in the previous IPL seasons with his dazzling bowling abilities.
Trent is currently the part of Delhi Capitals team. Seeing his present performance against England, his confidence level is high and so are the team’s expectations.

2Andrew Tye (Kings XI Punjab)
Andrew James Tye is an Australian cricketer. In IPL, he plays for Kings XI Punjab. He is widely famous for his knuckleball usage and wide variation of pace.
In 2015, he was bought by the Chennai Super Kings but did not play in the IPL. His official debut was in 2017 when he played for Gujarat Lions. In his first match, he took five wickets including a hat trick and earned the limelight. With his bowling figures of 5/17, he became the best bowler on debut in the IPL. In January 2018, he was bought by Kings XI Punjab.
1Varun Chakravarthy (Kings XI Punjab)
Varun Chakravarthy, called a mystery spinner, is a cricketer from Tamil Nadu. He has been under the limelight since when he was bought by Kings XI Punjab in the 2019 IPL auctions for Rs. 8.4 crores.
He was noticed because of his great performances in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL). There, he clinched a 9 wicket haul at the economy rate 4.92. To justify his big purchase price, he is expected to play majorly well and emerge as a boon for the team.
