2023 Australian Open: Sindhu knocked out; Srikanth, Prannoy in action in Quarters

Indian badminton player PV Sindhu was knocked out in the quarterfinals of 2023 Australian Open on Friday. Fifth-seeded PV Sindhu was no match for American Beiwen Zhang, who defeated her in the Australian Open quarterfinals in two straight games (21-12, 21-17) .

PV Sindhu, a two-time Olympic winner, put on a lackluster performance as USA’s Beiwen Zhang defeated her in the women’s singles quarterfinal in straight games. In 11 encounters, Zhang has defeated Sindhu five times.

India’s women’s singles campaign came to its conclusion with Sindhu’s loss. However, India is represented by three players in the men’s singles event.

The top seed, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, will face sixth seed HS Prannoy in the quarterfinals, while Kidambi Srikanth and Priyanshu Rajawat will compete in an all-Indian match of 2023 Australian Open.
