A total pool of 346 cricketers will go under the hammer in the Indian Premier League (IPL) Auction in Jaipur on December 18, as announced on Tuesday.
-- Advertisement --While 1003 players had initially registered, the final list has been trimmed after the eight IPL franchises submitted their list of shortlisted players.
This time around the highest reserve price is INR 2 crore and only nine overseas players – Brendon McCullum, Chris Woakes, Lasith Malinga, Shaun Marsh, Sam Curran, Colin Ingram, Corey Anderson, Angelo Mathews, D’Arcy Short – have opted to be slotted in the highest bracket.

On the other hand, eKingsss XI Punjab all-rounders Yuvraj Singh and Axar Patel have set their base price at INR 1 crore.
There has been a massive shuffle in some of the teams, with the likes of Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Daredevils – now Delhi Capitals – releasing almost every player that were at their helm.
Whereas, the likes of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have retained their core group of players. Each team will look to strengthen their squad, however, with the ICC Cricket World Cup 9 starting just after IPL 9, few overseas players might not be available for the entire season.
INR 2 crore is the highest base price and 9 overseas players have opted for the highest bracket.

While the auctions used to start from 10 am in the morning for the past editions, it is expected to start at 3 pm this year to maximise primetime viewership.
The auction is expected to start at 3 PM and will end by 9:30 pm. The date has been strategically planned as December 18 is the day of the final day of the second Test between India and Australia at Perth. The auctions will take place in Jaipur this year.
