Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the man who brought the World Cup back home after 28 years, completed 15 years in international cricket on Monday. The Ranchi-based cricketer debuted in international cricket on this day back in 2004 against Bangladesh. Interestingly, the was a bit forgetful, since the cricketer was run out for a duck.
He might not have had a very bright start to his international career, but Dhoni went on to accrue 17,266 runs across all formats for the India National Cricket team. Besides that, MSD is also with 829 dismissals from behind the stumps.
Dhoni has been hailed as the best captain the country has ever seen. Under his leadership, India lifted the 2007 ICC World T20 title, 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup, and the 2013 Champions trophy.

While the T20 trophy was special, having come at the expense of a defeat against arch-rivals Pakistan, the ICC World Cup was memorable because it came after 28-years of wait with that magnificent six right here in India. Besides, Team India also went on to become the No.1 Test team in the world.
Over the years, MSD made a reputation of himself as the best finisher in the world. The 38-year-old boasts an average of 50.60 in ODIs with a stunning 84, not outs in the 297 games he has played. He also has 73 fifties and 10 hundreds to his name.
Dhoni is yet to step back on the field having last featured in the semi-final defeat in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
